Peg Wherry has been hired as director of online and distance learning in Montana State University’s Extended University.

Wherry has more than 20 years of experience in distance learning, including director positions at Weber State University and the University of Illinois, and nearly 30 years in continuing education and academic outreach.

At MSU’s Extended University, Wherry will lead the implementation of Montana State Online as the focal point for online courses and programs offered by MSU, providing support for MSU colleges and departments in development and delivery of new distance learning. She will also promote the use of video conferencing and other instructional technology tools for credit and non-credit program delivery.
Wherry’s academic background is in English, with a master’s degree from Kansas State University and doctoral work at the University of Kansas. She has held leadership roles in both state and national professional organizations.
Extended University manages and develops distance learning and continuing education programs at MSU. It also houses the Burns Technology Center.
